i don't know if i'm smitten. okay i'm not actually. but yeah very VERY touched. possibly because i hadn't expected it. i mean who would expect two boys in their late teenagehood to bother about birthdays. one, i would expect, to be preoccupied with the girlfriend during his limited stay here in Singapore before he heads back for the UK for imperial (tomorrow to be exact) and the other, slogging working hard to earn bucks before the army calls. whatever the case, they didn't forget The Godsister. HAHAHA. so imperial boy popped by (again) today, this time to deliver the goodies. let the pictures do the talking.
so the packaging and a card! wow, a card! hahaha. they bothered.

oh and these creative boys i suspected headed for 7-11 to fill the container up hahaha good job nonetheless!

THANKS Digital Life. i didn't ask for it. totally. this is the case of The Archives. the Singapore Press Holdings should refresh their archives regularly (or does that defy the virtue of "archiving"?). either way, that picture's like SIX years old man. or seven. and ON my birthday... RAWR.
it's funny how turning nineteen actually made me feel YOUNGER. the past few birthdays have seen myself make resolutions, lots of self-evaluation (muhasabah diri), reflecting on the past and looking forward. they have been solemn phases, as though the increasing numbers (age) literally add weight to the notion of maturity and wisdom. but this year's different!
i guess surprises make you feel younger. they're like sudden outbursts of youth and excitement. a fresh spring of joy! though some make you DIG the energy especially if it's EARLY in the morning for the sleepyhead that i am. but it's okay! it is WORTH the archaeology. my deepest appreciation for my mambangs (& ABANG for conspiring, THANK YOU SO MUCH bitch) and The Family.

for that wonderful surprise, i gotta thank myMambangs for the delightful waking up to camera flashes and roses, dragging me out of bed couch (after only THREE freaking hours of sleep), make me mandi all within time period, making breakfast for us all ALL ON MY OWN while you guys SIT there and snapped photographs, getting BLINDFOLDED and having to brave through the PUBLIC (not easy getting down the bus & crossing the road blindfolded), gulping down an ENTIRE cuppa starbucks GREENTEA frappe (puke!) you could've given me peppermint mocha i'd appreciate it VERY much MORE, acting out the Romeo&Juliet scenes to PUBLIC (that guy with the intense stare was scary la!), taking picture with RANDOM MAT(s), getting dunked into the SEA (and i was wearing white and looking VERY transparent THANK YOU), building sandcastles (not really. it was an octopus.)
well, you guys are in for it. just you wait and see.

so that was my NEW YEAR'S DAY, a birthday surprise in advance.

on the real day, it was pretty much a family affair. nothing short of surprises though. some glimpses:

after that was a family day out with lotsa MAKAN.
